Any retail distributors in Europe?

Dear Sirs,
I just needed to know if the S3X project is still alive, and if that unique hub is now available, since the official claims were about the middle of March and it's listed in the catalog.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully.

Konstantin: Please contact info@sunrace.nl for information regarding European Distribution.

Giovanni: The S3X is still alive. The release date has been pushed back because of changes to certain parts (The driver being threaded to accept a single speed freewheel, etc.) and the new release date has not been decided. All information on the S3X will be posted here as things move forward.

One more question: is it possible to somehow purchase one of the Taipei Show or prototype S3X hubs?
I wish I could use it before June.
Thank you again.

Giovanni: Sorry we do not sell the prototype hubs. Also again we are not rushing this product into the market place. So there is really no need for rude comments. All comments are being moderated now on this blog because of the rude comments and the amount of spam that has been received.

According to the 2009-2010 catalog, there are a couple of new 5 speed shifters (THANK YOU!!!). One of those is thumbie (SLS50-T/HSJ959). Is that shifter sized for a road bar, or still only flat/mountain bar? And how about the bar end (SLS50-B/HSJ960)?

Does this push back also apply to the other new products? (i.e thumb shifters and 5 speed wide ratio with coaster break)

'Sunrace Sturmey Archer' is erasing not only 'rude' comments, but any evn slightly critical.

S3X = want want want want

I know it's still a prototype, but will it be out this year perhaps? And what's the price point? At $200 I'd put it on every bike I own. At $400 it's a luxury. Please tell me it's there somewhere :)

Wow, can you help us understand why a 'fixed' gear hub is being modified to accept a freewheel? would that setup provide something different than all the other internally geared 3 speed hubs?

I was really looking forward to building/riding an S3X this summer, but it sounds like if I'll have to look to some other brand/solution if i want to ride before the weather gets bad again...

Hopefully it doesn't die on the vine and turn out to be a tale told of what 'might have been'.

We are only moderating comments due to the many who leave comments with excessive rude language as well as the insane amount of spam comments we have received.

Price point on the S3X will not be anywhere near $400 Ben H. It will be more in line with the other amount you listed.

The hub was modified to accept a freewheel to make it more OEM friendly. Without a freewheeling option many OEMs cannot use the hub.

Hi. How can I buy SL-S50 shifters in Korea? Let me knoe the way. Thanks

Is there an estimate on the release date yet?

Does accepting a freewheel mean the S3X will also accept standard BSC threaded sprockets?

Hi can you please tell us where we can purchase the new S3X hub in Australia thanks

Sunrace Sturmey Archer said...

The S3X is still not yet available. When it does become available Australia is a tough one. We do not have much distribution there. We have spoken with Greenspeed and they do seem like they would like to help us with the Sturmey Brand. I would contact them when the S3X is available.

It would be nice if there were spare parts in the SA catalog that can be stocked and actually be purchased in one place.

I had to hunt for SA parts in three countries, US, UK and Germany.

Please improve your parts situation.

That was the point of me putting this article up. There are a ton of parts out there and this was the resource on how to go about getting them.
If you work in a shop United Bicycle Supply has almost everything we make. Hubs, small parts, cranks you name it.
If you do not work in a shop you can have your local shop order for you through United or you can order your own parts through www.BikeToolsEtc.com.
If you are looking for vintage stuff well you are out of luck. Because we do not manufacture vintage parts. Although some external fittings such as hub nuts and indicator chains from our current hubs still work on older ones.
